On August 31, 2018 BonTon officially closed its doors! After filing for bankruptcy early this year, it was auctioned off and bought in April. Many stores that use to be owned by BonTon around the country are now vacant.
The South Mall, located on Lehigh Street in Allentown,Pa, has lost another retail store; this time a fairly large one. The mall has recently lost the Hallmark store and Freemen Jewelers in the last few years.
With Amazon expanding its services and becomming a larger online retailer, many retail stores are closing, which means the smaller stores in malls are closing as well.
